Chapels in Galtuer
Culture on your holidays in Tyrol

Cows in front of a chapel in Galtuer
In both summertime and wintertime the hiking trails around Galtuer are an inviting way to enjoy the glorious countryside in the Paznaun region. On the way, you'll notice the many chapels which characterise the valley.
The chapels in Tyrol were built to protect the valley and often constructed to give thanks for God's support in hard times. In the time before Galtuer was developed for tourism the inhabitants of the high mountain region did not have an easy life.
Make your way to the chapels along the "Trail of Reflection", which opened in 2005. On this path you'll find the most beautiful chapels in Galtuer: the "Rearkappali", the "St. Antoniuskapelle" in the Wirl district, the chapels in Maiswald, the "Barbarakapelle" on Mt Bielerhöhe on the Silvretta High Alpine Road, and the "St. Martinskapelle" in Tschafein. Today the Galtuer locals look after their churches and chapels like treasures.
