Hiking Tips for Galtür

The following trails, however, start right in the centre of Galtür:
- Riverside path: Along the side of the Trisanna river and the Zeinisbach brook
Wide promenades on both sides of the Trisanna river lead from Tschafein to the village square and from there to the Kinga river along the Vermuntbach brook. From the Kinga bridge the valley trail on the northern side of the Vermuntbach brook will take you through meadows to the Wirl-Zeinisjoch road.
Time from Galtür centre to Zeinisjoch: about 1 hour.
Panoramic view: Kleinvermunttal, Klostertaler Egghorn 3120 m, Hennspitze 2707 m, Hennekopf 2704 m, Kleine Schattenspitze 2703 m - Panorama trail: Galtür–Alpe Egg–Neaderweg–Tschafein. On the road to the Jamtal valley just shortly before the Egg alp along a wall, from there a steep track on the left hand side leads to the edge of the forest. Continue on the wide path through the forest to the road leading to Vergiel. Back to Galtür via the Weilerweg path or first down to Tschafein and from there along the riverside path to the centre of the village. Possibility to descend via Böschaweg trail.
- Weilerweg path: Galtür–Maißle–Maaß–Lenzenhäuser–Poart–Tschafein
Instead of walking on the road to Tschafein, it is better you take the path above the main road. From the village square walk past Hotel Fluchthorn and after the bridge at the crossing take the path through the hamlets Maißle, Hochegg. Maiß, Lenzehäuser, Poart to Tschafein.
Time from Galtür centre to Tschafein: about 1/2 hour.
- Böschaweg trail: Sports centre–to the edge of the forest (Böscha)–Tschafein or Jam
Follow the path in the direction of the sports centre, go on through the hamlet Gampele past the Haus Predigberg and continue between the fences to a pasture (bench, signpost) and from there up to the edge of the forest (benches). From there you can take the panorama trail either in the direction of Jamtal valley or in the direction of Tschafein.
Time from Galtür centre: about 20 minutes.
Panoramic view: to Galtür, in the direction of Zeinisjoch and Versailspitze 2462 m, to Jamtalferner and Hintere Jamspitze 3156 m as well as Vordere Jamspitze 3178 m - Höhenweg trail: Böscha–Stafali
Begin same as Böschaweg trail. At the signpost the path branches off to the left and leads in a slight ascent in the direction of the forest to numerous resting stops. After about half an hour it crosses the panorama trail and after you have crossed a steep gorge you will reach a romantic clearing and the Stafali hamlet (some barbecue spots, benches).

Panoramic view: to Galtür, to Gorfen 2558 m, Ballunspitze 2671 m - Mentenalpe alp: Guggermühle–Menta
Follow the main street in direction to Wirl until you reach Hotel Luggi, there you turn left, walk through Wink, a part of Galtür, walk past Gasthof Alpine and on through a creek caused by a brook (mill), then along the edge of the forest until you reach a bridge. There follow the road, turn right after the Egge alp, cross the Jambach brook again and walk on to Menta alp.
Time from Galtür centre: about 1 1/2 hour.
- Valley trail: Galtür Sonnseite–Mathon–Ischgl–Kappl–See
This trail offers you the possibility to walk through the entire Paznaun valley from Galtür to See. Each village situated in the valley offers several possibilities to go up and downwards. You can start the valley trail in Galtür in Wirl, at the Gasthof Landle, at the village square, in Auhof and at the Hotel Paznaunerhof.
Total time from Galtür to See: about 7 hours. - Hiking trail Larein valley: Ritzenhoch–Heidelbergerhütte
Take the Höhenweg trail Lareinalpe to the Larein alp, from there follow the road further into the valley until you reach a small customs hut. Immediately after the customs hut you will cross the Larein brook via a solid built footbridge and ascend the Ritzenjoch via a partly steep trail. The Larein valley is one of the few nearly pristine valleys in the Silvretta Range. The view to the Fluchthörner which constitute the end of the valley is also very impressive. From the Ritzenjoch the trail descends to the Fimba valley and to the Heidelberger Hütte (hut) in partly steep serpentines. Convenient descent on the driveway in the direction of Bodenalpe and Ischgl (3 hours). From the hut there is a possibility to drive to Ischgl.
Time from Galtür centre: about 5 hours.
