Slopes in the Alps

Galtür’s altitude location makes cross-country skiing a special delectation. From 1377m to over 2000m altitude, leisure skiers and world-class skiers alike will find very well prepared slopes of all difficulty levels, set in unspoilt natural surroundings.

Thanks to its snow-assuredness, the slopes are snow-assured from the start of December right through to spring, which means they provide optimum training conditions for everyone. On some 100 kilometres of tracked slopes those new to the sport will find the best conditions here to get into this popular endurance sport, while those with more advanced knowledge can enjoy challenging tours in a dreamy setting.

In the ski region Silvapark in Galtür, even cross-country skiiers will get their money’s worth. With the Alpkogelbahn cable car you can reach the mountain base easily – then you arrive at the Silvapark cross-country skiing track after only 5 minutes walk. The track has approximately 1,0 km in length and is perfectly suited for training runs.
L1 - ISCHGL Trail (BLue)
The Ischgl trail is ideal for a first-time cross-country skiing exploration tour, or for quiet winter holidays. With 5 km and a very flat trail profile, it is not overtly challenging, yet still rewards you with a feeling of accomplishment.
L2 - MATHON Trail (REd)
With a length of 6 km, the Mathon trail leads through the snowy countryside, with romantic clearings and past the Mathon natural park. You’ll experience Paznaun in its most pristine form.
L3a - Forest Trail (Red)
Those looking for something more challenging are in good hands at the forest trail. At a length of 5,8 km with over 130 m difference of altitude you can go to your limits.
L3 - Tschaffein Trail (Blue)
The short Tschaffein trail with only 3,3 km length is perfect for your first tries on the trail and is not too demanding with an altitude difference of 50 metres. Perfect views to the Ballunspitze, the local mountain in Galtür are included.
L4 - GALTÜR WIRL Trail (Red)
Experience cross-country skiing in Galtür, the highest place in Paznaun at close to 1,600 m elevation, protected by the massive mountains of the Silvretta massif. Galtür’s motto is “Experience alpine wintersports!” The Galtür Wirl Trail, at 6,5 km and minor elevation requires only medium stamina and coordination and is also suited for intermediate skiers.
The route of this 18 km mountain trail is demanding but rewards with an incredible panorama and a beautiful snowy scenery. On the sunny “Bielerhöhe” peak (2,040 m)with the impressive Silvretta reservoir lake, enjoyment and relaxation is guaranteed!
S2 - ZEINIS – KOPS Trail
The area surrounding the Zeinissee and Kops reservoir are certainly among the most idyllic places in Paznaun. At the border between Tyrol and Vorarlberg, a magnificent view of giant peaks of the Silvretta massif awaits you.

Way up high – always reaching for the sun!

The altitude slope to Silvretta reservoir up at 2040 metres is one particular highlight. Up here, it seems as though you could just reach out and touch the impressively huge mountains in the mighty Silvretta group. Whether you prefer classic style, or skating – cross-country skiers will reach their full potential here!

Floodlit cross-country skiing in Galtür!

Good news for all cross-country enthusiasts who just can’t get enough. On the illuminated night-time slope from Galtür to Wirl, which is around three kilometres in length, guests can leave their tracks in the snow until 10:00 p.m. The evening ambiance plunges the high mountain landscape around Galtür into a very special light and on a clear, starry night when the snow conditions are perfect, you can enjoy the tranquillity of the winter night.

Cross-country skiing session with Skischool Silvretta Galtür...

Those of you who have never glided through, or skated on, the slopes using light boards  – which aren’t so long today, nor so wobbly and narrow - should take a bit of time to do so while on holiday in Galtür. Be that during a session with a private instructor or a group course. Since whoever has had a go at this both gentle and demanding winter sport, will enjoy completely new sporting and also recuperative experience.
