The Silvretta Reservoir in the Alps is one of the most impressive reservoirs in Tyrol and is located at the Bielerhöhe, the highest point of the Silvretta Hochalpenstraße (high-alpine road).
Work on the reservoir was started in 1938. However it was not completed until 1951. The reservoir has been accessible to public traffic via the Silvretta Hochalpenstraße since 1954. The Silvretta reservoir is bounded by 3 dams and is still used today for power generation.

A special attraction of the Silvretta reservoir is the motor boat, which can be boarded below the Silvrettasee restaurant. At 2000m above sea level, it is the highest commercial shipping operation in Europe. The motor boat operates every summer from July to September.

Angling permits can be obtained at the toll booths on the Silvretta Hochalpenstraße.
