If you're looking to have an extra special summer experience, then take a boat ride on the Silvretta reservoir. It's the only place in Europe to ride on a motorboat at an altitude of more than 2,000 metres.
Just underneath the Bielerhöhe, in a depression in the Silvretta, is where the magnificent reservoir is located. In 1938 the construction of the reservoir dam began for the 1.3 km² Silvretta Reservoir. The reservoir is bordered by a total of three dams, which you can also walk across on your summer holidays in Tyrol. It's an impressive experience, to look down into the deepest turquoise blue waters from high up on the wall.
If you set out on a hike from Galtuer, you can experience the rocky, raw nature of the mountains on your way to the water and once you arrive, there are places to stop for refreshments before you continue. If you'd like to take your children to the reservoir, and do not wish to hike the entire way, you can also reach the reservoir by bus and then take a hike around the Silvretta reservoir.
Boat Ride
The highlight of your holidays in Tyrol will however be a boat ride on the Silvretta Reservoir. Across Europe this is the only place where you can take a boat ride at 2,000m above sea level - a unique experience for young and old.
