Cross on the summit of a mountain

If you've got the right level of fitness, fantastic trails await that will push you to your limits. Pump yourself up and experience beautiful nature in the Paznaun on your hiking holidays in the Tyrolean Alps.

Getschnerscharte and transition to Bielerhöhe – advanced difficulty – 5 hours

Start your hiking holidays in Tyrol at Dorfplatz in Galtuer. The trail leads into the Jamtal valley and to the Jamtalhütte chalet. Afterwards you will continue on an easy ascent over the Jambach stream. From there you'll hike over the terrain on a good trail to the Getschnerscharte wind gap. At the highest points of the ascent the path could be snow-covered, even in early summer. To the right over the rocky terrain the trail leads into a great hollow; follow the marked trail until you reach the first fork. From here you follow the path to the right down to the Bieltal valley and out of the valley to the Bielerhöhe pass. The reward for all your endeavors is the wonderful panoramic view of the moutain peaks Getschnerspitze  (2,965 m) and the Madleinerspitze  (2,969 m).

Edmund Graf Hütte (Chalet) – Hoher Riffleradvanced difficulty– 6 hours

From the Dias Alps in Kappl this trail will take you over alpine pastures up to the Schmalzgrubenschafte, or wind gap (2,697 m) - afterwards you will have to pass the Schmalzgrubensee Lake to be able to make the ascent to the Edmund-Graf-Hütte chalet. At the chalet you'll begin your ascent to the Hohen Riffler (3,168 m), the highest mountain in the Verwall range. On the way back, from the Edmund-Graf-Hütte chalet go over the Geröllhalden up to the Kappler Joch ridge (2,672 m). On your descent you'll pass by the Blankaseen lakes to the Durrichalpe, then continue on to Oberhaus and back to Kappl.

Lareintal valley - Ritzenjoch ridge - Heidelberger Hütte (Chalet) -Ischgl – advanced difficulty – 5 hours

Leaving from the Mathon wildlife park a train will take you to the Larain Alpe. Then the hiking trail leads into the valley along the roadway until you almost reach the former customs hut. From there cross the the Lareinbach stream over a bridge and a good trail leads up to the Ritzenjoch ridge. Continue from the Ritzenjoch on steep winding paths down into the Fimbertal valley until you reach the Heidelberger Hütte alpine chalet. Here you should stop for something to eat. You will have a wonderful panoramic view of the Ritzenjoch mountain ridge.

Furglerjoch ridge – Furgler - advanced difficulty – 6.5 hours

Take the cable car from See up to the Medrigalm pasture at 1,800 m. From here you will make your ascent along the roadway in the direction of "Ascherhütte". Shortly before you reach the Gratli panorama restaurant, when you come to the fork in the footpath choose the direction "Furgler". Follow the signposts until you reach the Furglerjoch ridge. From there you have one last steep ascent up to the peak of the Furgler at 3,004 m. Your day of hiking in the Tyrolean Alps will all be worth it when you see the breathtaking view in all four directions.
