Amongst the many events in summer in Tyrol, culinary enjoyment and sport are at the forefront.
A very special culinary occasion is the July event ‘Indulgence Days in Galtür’.
Well known chefs like Jörg Wörther, Martin Sieberer and Sohyi Kim, popular wine grower Michael Moosbrucker and Willi Resetarits, who is one of the creators of the indulgence days, are just a few of the previous participants who came to cook, hike, taste and share their secrets.
The Indulgence Days in Galtür take place in the Sports and Culture Centre in the village and in the ‘Alpenhaus’, located at 2300 m above sea level. Exclusive dishes, as well as delicious wines await connoisseurs.
This event is traditionally brought to an end with a so called ‘Frühschoppen’, which is the traditional, culinary and musical farewell party. This is where Willi Resetarits, the ‘Stubenblues’ and the local band perform live on stage. In 2008 Lukas Resetarits played with his brother as a special guest act.
Less culinary, but even more sporty is another event in Tyrol in summer. Ambitious sports enthusiasts meet for one of the hardest and most challenging, but also one of the most beautiful, high mountain marathons at the ‘Silvretta-Ferwall marathon/march’.
As well as the 42,3km long marathon, the following alternatives are also available:
- 21,2km half marathon
- Running trails for kids and teens between 850 and 2500m
Participation is also possible for hikers on the following trails:
- Queen-trail: 42,3km (marathon distance)
- Ferwall-trail: 28km
- Family-trail: 13,5km
An accompanying social program for participants and visitors accompanies the Silvretta-Ferwall marathon. The award ceremony takes place in the finish area, in Galtür.
