Hiking Trails in Austria

Experience the themed walks in Tyrol for yourself

 Hiking in Paznaun valley
Theme walks in Tyrol

Explore the Galtuer countryside on our themed walks and learn about the area and its history while hiking in Tyrol. Choose your favorite path: "Path of reflection", "1000 metre ascent", "Forest experience" or "Quest for water". An overview of the walking trails can be found on the interactive map online.

Four different themed walks in Galtuer will lead you on beautiful hikes in Tyrol in Austria.

Quest for water

The trail leads you to Hexenloch (witches hole), the Gumpbrunnen (fountain) and the Trankschupfe. During this walking tour you'll learn how the earlier inhabitants brought water up to their houses at an altitude of 1,600 metres above sea level and how the water supply functions today.

Forest experience

On this walk you'll enjoy the panoramic views from special lookout points on your hike in Tyrol. Get to know the plant and animal world in Hochgebirgswald forest and learn the background on lumber processing and use. The trail also leads to the first power station in Galtuer and the avalanche protection wall. Walking time alone is estimated to be 2 to 2.5 hours.

1,000 metre ascent

Experience the unforgettable views over the peaks and glaciers of the Silvretta range while hiking in Tyrol. Over an altitude of 600 metres and 12 kilometres in distance, this trail offers plenty of ground for you to cover. The lowest point is at 1,584 metres above sea level, the highest is at 2,138 metres. The degree of difficulty to the Sonnenkogel is "red" and to the Friedrichshafener Hütte alpine chalet is "black". If you choose to take the longer and more difficult path, you should allow for around 2.75 hours.

Path of reflection

This themed walk will lead you around the churches, chapels and shrines which Galtuer is known for. On this route you will be able to see the "Maria Geburt" (Maria's Birth) parish church which was built in 1359.

Look forward to hikes in Tyrol and experiencing the varied themed walks during your holidays in Galtuer! Send us a no obligation enquiry or book directly online.
