Young or young-at-heart, hobby or marathon runner – Galtür offers perfect conditions for all types of running fans. Long valley runs or challenging mountain trails – there’s the perfect route for everyone, topped off with plenty of fresh, clean Tyrolean mountain air. Discover the best running routes in Galtür:

a challenging 30 kilometres 

Characteristics and trail conditions
30 kilometres and 800 vertical metres leading from the valley entrance all the way to Galtür. With a continuous incline up to 1,600 metres, this trail takes a fair amount of endurance and fitness. Passing by the holiday resorts of See, Kappl and Ischgl, alternating asphalt, gravel and forest trails take you to the picturesque higher mountain villages.

Runner’s tip: If you start the tour from Galtür, you can cut down the altitude difference to a more pleasant 290 vertical metres. What’s more, you can take the bus back to the starting point at both ends of the trail.

21 kilometres of mountain views

Stamina required! The Paznaun half-marathon covers a distance of 21 kilometres and 380 vertical metres. The run starts at Ischgl and takes you along the Trisanna river towards Mathon. Following a short forest trail between Valzur and Piel, the route continues towards Galtür. Your reward? Fantastic views of Galtür’s landmark mountains Gorfenspitze and Ballunspitze!

19 kilometres, 600 vertical metres and splendid views of the mighty Jamtal glacier – what more could you want from a run? The route up to Jamtal hut is a panoramic tour for fit runners. Starting in Galtür, an asphalt road takes you up to Menta Alm. From there, follow the gravel path up to the hut.

Event tip: Silvretta Run 3000! 
Every summer, marathon fans and ambitious hobby runners flock to the Paznaun region to be part of the year’s big running highlight. The Silvretta Run 3000 features three trail running routes (small, medium and hard) and has competitors fighting for a prize money of EUR 12,000.
