‘A night-time racing spectacle, guaranteed to give you goose-bumps’ – if you are there at the 3rd Galtür Nordic Night Race on 24th March 2022 you will know what we are talking about. Since, whether you are a participant or a spectator, unforgettable moments of excitement await at the skating sprint!

The special thing about this event? It takes place right on the edge of the center of the 800-inhabitant village in Tyrol and brings an extra dose of atmosphere! Everyone is allowed to run, adults as well as children!

  • When: 24th March 2022
  • Race start: 4.30 pm adults | 5.45 pm kids
  • Discipline: night-time sprint with any technique
  • Where: Hotel Luggi (behind the hotel)
  • Participation: free of charge, number of participants is limited, anyone can take part
  • Qualifying: Individual race 1 round
  • TOP 16 K.O.-finals: 2 rounds, 4 runners per heat, top 2 runners are in the finals
  • Thanks to the stored snow, the race takes place in every snow and weather condition.

Race information

The first hurdle is the 700 metre qualification round, which every participant in the individual race has to complete. The 16 fastest in the women’s and men’s fields then continue to the exciting knock-out stage, which is held over two rounds over a total of 1,400 metres. The finalists start in groups of four – from which the two fastest cross-country skiers go through.

  • TOP 16 K.O.-finals: 2 rounds, 4 runners per heat, top 2 runners are in the finals

Free food & drinks provided:

  • Tea and water at the Alpinarium
  • Gulash soup/bread and one drink between 11.30 - 15.00 and 17.00 - 22.00 in the Hotel Ballunspitze in Galtür.

Eligible for the main race are:

  • Ladies and Gentlemen
  • from J18 (born 2004 and 2005)
  • The deadline is January 1, 2022
  • Younger participants are not allowed in the main race, but run in the children's race

The payment of the prize money to the winners takes place personally and exclusively on site after the award ceremony, which takes place at the finish area.

  • € 7,900.- total prize money (50% women and 50% men)
  • A weekend in Galtür for 2 persons for the fastest women and the fastest man in the qualifying
  • Raffle of a total of 4 weekends for 2 persons in Galtür among all participants
