The Galtür Nordic Volumes are taking a creative break

After many years filled with sporting encounters, special moments and shared cross-country skiing experiences, the Galtür Nordic Volumes are taking a creative break. The event will not take place in winter 2026/27 for the time being – but cross-country skiing will continue to play a firmly established role in Galtür and the Paznaun’s winter offering.

Since their launch, the Galtür Nordic Volumes have brought cross-country skiing enthusiasts, promising young talents and elite athletes to Galtür. Through a wide variety of competitions – from demanding sprints featuring thrilling knockout heats and junior races to the legendary Cross Country Climb to the Bielerhöhe – the event has showcased the many facets of cross-country skiing.

Now is the right time to create space for new ideas. The Galtür Nordic Volumes are therefore taking a creative break. This decision does not mark a farewell to cross-country skiing, but rather a deliberate step towards developing new concepts, formats and perspectives for the future. Whatever emerges from this process is intended to provide fresh, long-term impetus for the sport, the region and the people who shape cross-country skiing in Galtür.

Galtür’s Nordic expertise remains a key part of the Paznaun’s winter offering. The region continues to stand for perfectly groomed cross-country trails, varied routes and memorable skiing experiences set against an impressive Alpine backdrop.

In recent years, targeted investment has been made in the continued development of this offering. One important milestone was the implementation of the snowfarming initiative: by storing snow over the summer, the cross-country skiing season in Galtür can begin as early as 5 November 2026.

Even during the Galtür Nordic Volumes’ break, Galtür remains a place where cross-country skiing takes centre stage – for ambitious athletes as well as families, beginners and everyone who simply wants to leave their tracks through the winter landscape.
