You’re a mountain-loving outdoor enthusiast looking for a new adventure? Galtür is a paradise for climbers and the perfect place to experience the impressive peaks of the Tyrolean mountains from up close.

Whether you’re a fan of vie ferrate, boulders or high-rope courses  – the mountains of Galtür offer the perfect adventure for every boulderer or climber. If you prefer indoor climbing, we recommend dropping by at the boulder hall of the Alpinarium museum. 

Our tip: As part of the summer outdoor programme, there is a weekly climbing and bouldering course with experienced mountain guides. The course is suitable for adults as well as children!

Sector 01 - Zwergerlwelt

Games and a lot of fun are waiting for our little ones. On the hunter’s path you will learn a lot of exciting things about our nature and its alpine animals. And if you listen carefully you might hear the whistling of the marmots.

01-01 hunter's path 

Why does the ibex climb so well? Where is the fox hiding in winter? And how far can an eagle fly? On the hunter’s path you are able to follow the paths of the alpine mountains.

02-01 Geocaching

On our treasure hunt in the SILVAPARK area you can explore a lot of new things.
Here you will also find an adventurous way though the beautiful mountain landscape with the CPS-devices. Fun for the whole family is guaranteed.
You will get the devices and start coordinates  at the valley station.

02-02 Kid's Blocks

You always wanted to climb up the wall like spiderman? In our Kid’s Blocks you have the opportunity to try it. Bouldering is climbing at jump height - without ropes but you get secured with crash pads on the ground.
So, how high can you get?

Sector 03 - A place for heroes

climbing & mountaineering

This SILVAPARK via ferrata is an exciting challenge. The original rock-climbing path is classified as medium to difficult. The difficulties are mostly B/C, but at two points the via ferrata has also C/D. The trail leads climbers through a north face to the summit, where an impressive view of the glacier world of the Silvretta and on the Rätikon is waiting for you. Beginners can use the services of experienced mountain guides and alpine schools in Galtür.

On the backside of the Alpinarium Galtür there is the largest natural rock-climbing wall in Austria.
A unique climbing experience! There is also an indoor boulder wall.

03-01 Via ferrata "Little Ballun"

The Little Ballun via ferrata is a highlight for children and families.
Most sections have a difficulty level of A/B, that’s why the via ferrata is perfect for kids aged eight and above.
Good to know: Although the prehistoric via ferrata is perfectly secured, you should have basic climbing experience as well as plenty of strength and stamina to tackle this route. Bring appropriate equipment such as a helmet, harness, via ferrata set and solid footwear and don’t forget to pack enough to eat and drink especially when climbing with children.

03-02 Via ferrata "Silvapark"

  • Start: summit station – follow the directions
  • Access to the wall: Follow the marked path to the Ballunspitzbahn mountain station. From the marked junction follow the path to under the rocks.

03-03 Climbing tour to the Ballunspitze (2. 671m) via northeast gradient or northeast flank

  • day tour: Difficulty level III – IV

Sector 04 - Boulderpark 

8 Sectors – 160 Boulder. There could not be more climbing fun. Bouldering is climbing at jump height- without ropes but you get secured with crash pads on the ground. In the boulder area Silvapark there are 8 sectors with more than 160 routes. There are routes for beginners and pros. Feature: the “Anam Cara” with a difficulty level of 8c it is one of the trickiest boulders of the world.

Sector 05 - Wo(a)nderland 

A range of ways lead you through the beautiful mountain landscape. You are not just staying fit when you are hiking you also get away from everyday life and enjoy the alpine beauty.
Here you recharge your batteries and with a little attention you will discover small and large natural beauties behind every turn. Our hiking and mountain guides will guide you safely through the Alps and will lead you to the most beautiful places. Hiking maps can be purchased at the cable car station and at the tourist office.

05-01 Kops reservoir - Zeinisjoch (1.822m)

05-04 summit tour with a mountain guide to Ballunspitze (2.671m)

Along the marked path towards Kops reservoir and Breitspitze. From the marked junction follow the path to under the rocks and along the tracks. Some places are secured with tread plates and handles. The summit cross is about 10 m below the main summit and can only be reached by climbing (summit book under the rock of the cross – please stow away again). A fabulous view of the village! Return either the same way or by descending the gravel channel to the northwest to the Kops reservoir.
