The Silvapark Galtür, located at the foot of Ballunspitze, is one of the most diverse bouldering areas in the Alps and offers ideal conditions for beginners and professionals at around 1,800 metres above sea level. Across 14 sectors, more than 445 routes await – from easy slab climbs and technical cracks to spectacular, steep overhangs. This creates a varied terrain that allows both first bouldering experiences and demanding projects at the highest level. A particular highlight is the route “Anam Cara” (8c), which challenges even experienced boulderers and rewards them with an intense sense of achievement. Every route is set against the impressive backdrop of the Silvretta mountains, enhancing the overall nature experience. Access is easy via the Alpkogel cable car, which operates during the summer months, and parking is available free of charge. Those without their own equipment can conveniently hire climbing shoes and crash pads from Intersport Wolfart in the centre of Galtür or from the Silvretta Bike School in Wirl.

The easiest way to access the area is via the Alpkogel cable car, which operates during the summer months. From the top station, the first sectors can be reached within a short walk. Alternatively, it is possible to hike up, although this requires more time and physical effort.

The main season is during the summer months when the trails are snow-free and the cable car is in operation. Thanks to the altitude, temperatures remain pleasantly cool even on warmer days. Early mornings and late afternoons often offer the best climbing conditions.

Silvapark is designed to cater for all levels. Beginners will find well-structured sectors with easier routes and good landing zones, while more experienced climbers can choose from a wide range of technically and physically demanding problems. Families also benefit from the accessible layout and the variety of suitable areas.

Yes, there are several rental options in Galtür. Climbing shoes and crash pads can be hired easily, making it ideal for visitors without their own equipment or those planning a spontaneous session. Rental shops are located in the village centre and in Wirl.

Previous experience is helpful but not essential. Beginners can ease into the sport on easier routes and gradually build confidence. However, it is recommended to familiarise yourself with basic safety principles or gain initial experience in an indoor climbing gym beforehand.

From the campsite right to the climbing area

Just imagine: Being first on the rock, right after getting up in the morning … It’s easy to do! Zeinissee campsite  is located just around the corner from the boulder area. At 1,820 metres above sea level, it’s Austria’s highest-located campsite, open from June to October. We recommend booking early, as wild camping is prohibited in the entire Silvapark area.
