LATTENABFAHRT: THE 8 KM CHALLENGE

Panoramic views, endurance and pure piste pleasure in Kappl

The Lattenabfahrt in Kappl is the ultimate 8-kilometre challenge combining stunning scenery, stamina and skiing enjoyment – from the highest point of the ski area all the way down to the valley. It’s the sporting highlight of the Kappl ski resort, offering a long and varied descent on the sunny side of the Paznaun valley. Those who take it on experience Tyrol’s winter at its most impressive: technically demanding, visually breathtaking and full of flow.

STARTING ON THE SUNNY SIDE OF THE PAZNAUN

The starting point of the Lattenabfahrt lies just below the Alblittköpfe peaks, which rise to around 2,700 metres. From here, skiers enjoy magnificent views across the Paznaun and its surrounding summits – a moment that builds anticipation for the descent ahead. The very first turns reveal why Kappl is considered one of the region’s insider favourites: perfectly groomed slopes, crystal-clear air and that unmistakable sense of freedom before carving all the way down to the valley.

8 kilometres of variety – from peak to valley

Stretching over roughly 8 kilometres and nearly 1,500 vertical metres, the Lattenabfahrt offers new impressions with every section. The upper part is wide and open, the middle section sporty and rhythmic, and the lower part winds its way between snow-covered slopes. Each stage has its own character and level of challenge – from wide, flowing turns to stretches that demand precision and endurance. The result is a seamless experience from high alpine terrain to the valley floor, where scenery and skiing pleasure go hand in hand.

Arriving with pride and a smiling face

At the bottom, you’ll truly understand what Kappl’s 8 km Challenge is all about: tired legs, a big smile and the rewarding feeling of having achieved something special. The combination of distance, landscape and sporting challenge makes the Lattenabfahrt one of the most impressive valley descents in the Paznaun – a run that inspires and stays with you long after the final turn.
