The winter hiking trail to Mutta starts right at the Silvretta Therme and winds gently through snow-covered forests. The winter hiking trail from Ischgl to Mathon is perfect for a relaxed winter exploration. Gentle and easy to walk, it starts at the Silvretta car park and initially runs alongside the cross-country ski trail. In the charming hamlet of Paznaun, the trail branches off onto its own path and runs mostly flat towards Mathon. After crossing the Valzurbach stream, you reach the wildlife park – or hike back to Ischgl on the other side of the Trisanna. A flexible winter walk for enjoying nature and getting some exercise.

The winter hiking trail from Ischgl to Ebene leads gently out of the valley and starts after the Silvretta Therme. On the way, you cross the rushing Madleinbach stream and pass through the districts of Versahl, Vergröß and Platt until you reach Ebene. Above the Trisanna, you can enjoy the peace and quiet and the snow-covered landscape – perfect for a relaxing break. If you still have energy, simply hike back along the same route or use the bus stop for a comfortable return trip to Ischgl.

If you’re new to the sport, it’s a good idea to join a guided tour of the Experience Programme. Together with experienced guides and fellow winter sports enthusiasts, you will explore the most stunning spots of the Alpine Paznaun valley.

You would like to try snowshoeing, but don’t have the necessary equipment? No problem! Renting snowshoes on site is easy!

  • Many mountain huts outside ski areas are closed in winter.
  • Tip: Bring your own snacks and drinks for the trail.
  • Numerous restaurants and cafés are open in the valley near the villages – ideal for a cozy break after your hike.

  • Respect all signs, barriers, and warnings along the trail.
  • Stay on designated winter hiking paths – they are regularly groomed, marked, and maintained.

Transportation & Return Options

  • Bus line 260 runs between the valley villages and is ideal for getting to/from trailheads.
  • In winter, you can also use the free ski bus throughout the Paznaun region.
  • Exploring Samnaun? A valley hiking trail and bus line connect the five Samnaun villages. From Samnaun-Ravaisch, a gondola takes you back into the ski area.
