Paznaun is kicking off the 2025/26 winter season with numerous investments in modern cable car technology, family offers and high-profile events. In Ischgl, two new 8-seater D-Line chairlifts, the international Ikon Pass partnership and the premiere of the Ischgl Trophy are attracting attention. In Kappl and See, the focus is on comfort and family friendliness – with two new lifts and a large family area. Galtür scores with an early start to cross-country skiing thanks to snow farming. Awarded by Skiresort.de, Paznaun once again confirms its place among the top winter destinations in the Alps.

Ischgl: New 8-seater D-Line chairlifts, international connection & tennis event

Silvrettaseilbahn AG is investing 50 million euros in the modernisation of the Silvretta Arena and will build three state-of-the-art 8-seater D-Line chairlifts with seat heating, weather protection hoods and the innovative AURO system, which enables automatic entry and exit monitoring, by the 2026/27 winter season:

·        The Höllbodenbahn C1 (from 2025) will transport up to 4,200 people per hour. The new mountain station will be built around 500 metres east of Idalp to optimise traffic flow.

·         The Sassgalunbahn C3 (from 2025) with a capacity of 3,400 people per hour will replace the existing 6-seater chairlift and improve access to the surrounding slopes.

·        The Höllkarbahn C2 (from 2026), with a length of 1,850 metres, will have a capacity of 4,200 people per hour and will provide greater comfort and shorter waiting times in the Höllkar area.

All chairlifts will have thematically designed chair backs (Top of the Mountain Concerts, history of the Silvrettaseilbahn AG, Silvretta Therme Ischgl) and will be equipped with over 1,200 m² of photovoltaic modules (total output: 274.5 kWp). The old facilities will continue to be used sustainably – for example, the Höllbodenbahn as the new Familienglückbahn in See.

Another milestone: Ischgl is now part of the international Ikon Pass network. With the Ikon Pass, winter sports fans from all over the world have access to over 60 ski resorts in America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan – including, for the first time, the cross-border Silvretta Arena Ischgl/Samnaun.

From 11 to 13 December 2025, the Ischgl Trophy will also celebrate its premiere – an exclusive tennis event featuring stars such as Dominic Thiem and Tommy Haas. The venue is the Tennis Centre Ischgl. In addition to exciting matches, a high calibre supporting programme with a gala, hut evening, ProAm tournament and tennis clinic will be offered.

In addition, the Silvretta Arena has been awarded 5 stars by Skiresort.de and named test winner in the categories of snow reliability, orientation and après-ski.

World record gondola made from 400,000 LEGO® bricks now on display at the valley station of the 3-S Pardatschgratbahn A2

The record-breaking gondola, built from around 400,000 LEGO® bricks, is 4.51 metres high, a length of 2.70 metres and a width of 2.43 metres, can now be admired for several years in the entrance area of the valley station of the 3-S Pardatschgratbahn A2 in Ischgl. The work of art, which was created as part of a joint project with guests – including many children – impresses with its attention to detail, including artistically designed window areas featuring iconic Ischgl motifs made from 24,576 LEGO elements. Winter sports enthusiasts and visitors will now have ample opportunity to experience this extraordinary work – a world record gondola made of LEGO bricks – up close and immortalise themselves in the splendour of the construction with a photo.

Ski area Kappl & See: two new lifts, a great family offer

Modernisation is also progressing in Kappl: by the 2025/26 winter season, the new Diasbahn will be a state-of-the-art 10-seater monocable gondola lift, replacing the 1987 facility. It will offer improved ride comfort, optimised routing, shorter waiting times and a higher capacity of up to 2,400 people per hour. The new lift will provide fast, barrier-free access to the ski area and set new standards.

In See, the former Höllbodenbahn from Ischgl is being completely overhauled and rebuilt for the new 6-seater chairlift ‘Familienglück’ – true to the motto ‘Rise like a Phoenix’. With a capacity of 2,500 people per hour, the lift provides access to ideal terrain for families and beginners. A showcase project for sustainable cable car infrastructure through the reuse of existing facilities.

A new family area with a covered conveyor belt, family park and attractive beginner slopes is being created around the lift in See. The new snow park is designed for children and teenagers and offers a variety of snow park elements such as boxes and tubes with increasing levels of difficulty.

Skiresort.de awarded the ski resort See the distinction ‘Extra class: World-leading ski resort with up to 60 km of slopes.

A total of around 30 million euros is being invested in the renovation of the two lifts – a joint project of the ski area Kappl & See, which focuses on greater comfort, higher transport capacities and forward-looking technology.

Galtür: Season starts in November thanks to snow farming

In Galtür, the cross-country skiing season begins in mid-November. This is made possible by a professional snow farming system that uses natural snow stored over the summer. Around 4 kilometres of trails can be used at this early stage. The cross-country skiing region Ischgl & Galtür offers a total of around 80 kilometres of groomed trails of all levels of difficulty in winter – an ideal training environment for amateur and professional skiers alike.

Silvapark Galtür was once again named ‘Extra Class: World-leading ski resort with up to 60 km of slopes’ by Skiresort.de.
