Every year, Galtür hosts the International Alpine Cheese Olympics. Never heard of them? Then it’s about time! According to Olympic tradition, the best raw milk cheeses of the Alpine region are awarded gold, silver or bronze.
More than 3,000 guests get to witness how 100 Alpine dairymen from Austria, Germany, South Tyrol and Switzerland present their best specialties to the Olympic Cheese Committee as well as a kids’ jury. The cheeses are rated according to their taste, quality and use of regional ingredients. The big prize: the golden harp!
Gourmet tip: You don’t have to be a jury member to try the delicacies! Guests can sample and purchase all cheeses on the day of the event!
